Father's Day Weekend

June 18-19th

Father's Day weekend we went for a day trip to Victoria to see our dad's.  We spent the day at my grandparent's pool and had a wonderful time! Came home Saturday evening, went to Church Sunday, took Daron to one of his favorite restaurants--Carrabba's, then home for presents and a nap.  It was a great weekend!

Gentle reminder of how I should be looking at myself and where I should be putting my energy.  Devotion from Jesus Calling by Sarah Young:

I want you to experience the riches of your salvation: the Joy of being loved constantly and perfectly.  You make a practice of judging yourself, based on how you look or behave or feel.  If you like what you see in the mirror, you feel a bit more worthy of My Love.  When things are going smoothly and your performance seems adequate, you find it easier to believe you are My beloved child.  When you feel discourage, you tend to look inward so you can correct whatever is wrong.

Instead of trying to "fix: yourself, fix your gaze on Me, the Lover of your soul.  Rather than using your energy to judge yourself, redirect it to praising Me.  Remember that I see you clothed in My righteousness, radiant in My perfect Love.

So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus.  God saved you by h is grace when you believed.  And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God.
Ephesians 2:7-8

And so, dear brothers and sisters who belong to God and are partners with those called to heaven, think carefully about this Jesus whom we declare to be God's messenger and High Priest.
Hebrews 3:1

Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy no shadow of shame will darken their faces.
Psalm 34:5

Today, remember you are a child of God and He LOVES YOU!

Relax in MY company

I know I often times blog from this devotional I read from, but what I want to make clear is that you know it is written as Jesus Himself is talking...it's very powerful today and SO what I needed to hear. Devotion from Jesus Calling by Sarah Young:

Rest in MY presence when you need refreshment.  Resting is not necessarily idleness, as people often perceive it.  When you relax in My company, you are demonstrating trust in Me. Trust is a rich word, laden with meaning and direction for your life.  I want you to lean on, trust, and be confident in Me.  When you lean on me for support, I delight in your trusting confidence.

Many people turn away from Me when they are exhausted.  They associate me with duty and diligence, so they try to hide from My Presence when they need a break from work.  How this saddens Me! As I spoke through My prophet Isaiah: In returning to Me and resting in Me you shall be saved; in quietness and trust shall be your strength.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.
Proverbs 3:5

This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: "Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength.  But you would have non of it."
Isaiah 30:15

As Americans we definitely perceive "resting" as lazy, Jesus is saying, rest in ME and the ONLY in resting in Him will I be saved! Powerful!  I don't purposely turn when I'm exhausted, but I do notice often times, it's an area where I can tend to neglect when I am tired.  I need to remind myself, 'quietness and confidence is my strength!'

Last week Faith kept talking about what all she was going to do for me next Mother's Day...she was going to make me breakfast and bring it to me in bed, etc.  Well, Daron said, why wait til next Mother's Day? You can do it anytime....Her face lit up and she got very excited.  She said okay, I'll do it Saturday...I said, well honey, I will be out of bed and running before you ever wake up and will be nasty when I get home, so how about Sunday.  She said that will work.  She asked me what I liked I said cinnamon toast (because I thought this would be the quickest least messy breakfast a 6 year old could make ) :) So she asked me how to make it, I told her the "lazy/rushed mom way" which is butter the bread, sprinkle mixed cinnamon and sugar, press into the butter (this is so it doesn't fall off, bc you'll love the next step) put it in the toaster...yep, that's how I roll, I put them in the toaster because it's so much faster...haha...Well, around 8:10 am she starts making breakfast (cinnamon toast-which I love) I'm patiently waiting in bed, around 8:50 I'm getting a little antsy because I now only have about 15 minutes to get ready for Church....when she brought me breakfast on a tray, my heart melted....You'll see why when you see the pictures below.

These were the directions she drew after I told her how during the week.  SO cute!!
Translation: 1) butter the bread, 2) sprinkle cinnamon and sugar, 3) press into butter, 4) put in toaster

Breakfast served to me in bed...in my "favorite coffee mug" she even had daddy go outside and cut me fresh roses.

Man, I am so blessed. I love my thoughtful, precious baby girl...sorry, I just had to brag about how awesome she is.  Have a great day!

God's perfect justice

After reading several of my friends comments on facebook after the verdict yesterday I thought this was a wonderful daily devotion from my Church!

PERFECT JUSTICE

"So Moses brought their case before the Lord. And the Lord replied to Moses, "The claim of the daughters of Zelophehad is legitimate. You must give them a grant of land along with their father's relatives. Assign them the property that would have been given to their father." Numbers 27:5-7

The pounding gavel echoed through the courtroom as the judge took his seat.

"This court is now in session. Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, have you reached a verdict?"

"We have, Your Honor. We, the jury, find the defendant not guilty."

A gasp lingers throughout the courtroom. "How can this be?" one person whispers. "What?" another says in a low voice. A family sobs on one side of the courtroom, quietly clinging to each other, dismayed by the miscarriage of justice.

Sadly, it has become an all-too-familiar scene.

But, with God, things are different. His justice is perfect. In the passage of Scripture today, Moses brings the request of Zelophehad's daughters before the Lord. The Lord declares the claim legitimate, and issues His pronouncement of justice. Victory for the daughters of Zelophehad!

How wonderful to know that one day there will be no more miscarriages of justice - God's perfect justice will reign supreme!

May you rest in the hope and the promise of God's perfect justice in your life today.
