Our God is healer...awesome in power...

Good morning! I serve an awesome God! A healer, redeemer, saver, lover, grace giving God!!

If you can recall some of my past blogs, ( http://fourmoultons.blogspot.com/2011/04/not-as-planned.html ) I have neighbors with needs...we all do! One specific neighbor has been battling a brain tumor for over 5 years. It comes, gets smaller, chemo/radiation for the past five years we've been here.

Last Monday (February 13th) Daron picked up the kids and I had gone straight home to lay down because I had been having my own "battle" with headaches and extreme fatigue. When they got home Will said with enthusiasm, "We're going on a family walk!" Although I love the idea because we always try to instill in our children the importance of health and the last thing I want to do is stifle that...I am not going to lie...that was the LAST thing I wanted to do! So, after getting up, cooking dinner, etc. Will said, "Lets go on our walk!" Daron said, "Mommy doesn't feel well so we'll go tomorrow..."he started crying and of course I felt so guilty. So already in my sweats (pjs) I went and put on my house shoes, yes, you heard me right...and said, lets go on a walk! :)

We set out to do our loop, almost home, two houses away, Cassidy, the 8 year old daughter (of the man fighting cancer) was in the yard...I said Hi sweetie, how are you, and with a smile, as always, she said, "Good!". As we walked to the other side of the driveway I noticed the wife/mom was getting her husband out of the passenger seat, he made some really agonizing noises and Cassidy yelled, "Daddy, you okay" about that time the grandmother walked around with a wheel chair...I had NO idea he was doing this poor. I literally had to speed walk straight to my house and to my room because I could not compose myself. Here I was with a "headache" (which I am NOT downplaying, but compared to this man literally suffering with a brain tumor) I am blessed.

I KNOW God had a reason for us to go on a family walk that night...it was to: 1) Realize I don't feel as bad as it could be, 2)Make me realize how blessed I am to have a healthy family--and to cherish them, and 3) I need to get outside of my dang home and be a missionary next door.

That night we explained to our kids that our neighbor was very sick and we should pray for them and do something special on Valentine's Day to show our love. So the next day we prepared a goody basket and walked it over to them. They were appreciative, yet reluctant.

Well friends, I can say today...the story doesn't end there! Yesterday I was home with Will. Around 3 he looked out the window and said, "It sure is a pretty day! We should go out and play!" I said, "honey, you need to rest so you will feel better." He said, "Well, I love outside it will make me feel better!" So...we headed out for a walk, on our way back home our neighbors (wife and kids) were outside. She came up to me with tears in her eyes and said, "I need to tell you something"....my heart sunk! She told me how they had gone to the doctor in January and the doctors had told them there was nothing else they could do and that he probably only had two months or so left....she then smiled and said, "Today he had an MRI and it's gone! I saw it with my own eyes....it was clear!!!" She continued by telling me she knew it was all the prayers and that only God could have done this!

Last night I was laying down with Will and said, "I have something REALLY cool to tell you!" He got real still and said, "What?" I said, "you know how Cassidy's daddy has been sick and we have been praying for him?" He said, "Yes." I said, "He is healed, he is all better!!" He said, "WHOA, are you serious? It must have been because we have been praying for him....I didn't know God could do that!" It was such a cool experience to be able to have that conversation with my four-year old, that we serve a mighty, healing God, that can do ANYTHING! Then I went to Faith's room, Daron had already told her...she was saying that was so awesome, I told her what Will said, and she snickered....and said, "Mom, if God made us and EVERYTHING in this World, does he (Will) not know he can heal?? WOW, that's my 7 year-old talking! I did explain that Will is younger than her and she is wise beyond her years. I am forever grateful for this experience and to be able to discuss God's grace with our children and a young age.

Praise be to God, ALL glory to Him! Please pray for his strength to return, for me to continue to be there to minister, and for them to not forget who gave them this miracle. I pray you have a blessed day!

Will's first girlfriend

On Monday I took Will to school.  When we walked in and singed in I was holding and kissing on him, our usual routine :) When I went to put him down there were two little girls with open arms saying, "Good morning Willie!!" He didn't even look and walked right past them. I snickered inside thinking it was a little rude, yet funny and left.

When I picked him of from school on Monday they were out on the playground and the same little girls were walking with him over to me.  I said, "hi! What's your names?" One was Macey, the other was something else...I remembered Macey because Will always talks about her.  I had always asked if he liked her and always says, "NO, that's Maverick's girlfriend!" (Maverick is one of his best buds at school).

Well, Tuesday afternoon I picked him up. We were in the car on our way home and I was asking about his day...he was quiet for a moment and said, "Mom, I need to tell you something." I said, "okay, what is it buddy?" He said, "Never mind," with a smirk on his face. So, instead of insisting on him telling me, I blew it off, pulled over to get gas, when I got back in the car Will said, "Okay, I want to tell you now." I said, "Cool, what's up." With blushing cheeks and a smile he said, "Macey is BEAUTIFUL!" (which she is a very pretty little girl!) I said, "Yes, she is!" He said, "Maverick said she's the most beautiful girl in the World....I said yes and that was mostly the end of that conversation Tuesday.

Last night (Wednesday) I was laying down with Will putting him to bed and he said, "Maverick broke Macey's heart!" I said, "wow, really? how?" He said, "He didn't want a girlfriend anymore so he broke up with her, and it broke her heart" (this is seriously coming out a four-year olds mouth!) I said, "Aww, how said...did you hug her and make her feel better?" He said, "YES, she really wanted a boyfriend." I said, "so you're her boyfriend now?" He said with a grin, "YES!"  I asked him if Maverick was still his friend...he said, yeah, after he did it he said he wanted a girlfriend so he asked another girl, then another girl........he has a boyfriend now (Oh my!)
I was telling my sister this on the phone, because of course I think it's funny....she laughed and said, I can only imagine how Maverick's parents feel as he tells them his story...I didn't even think of that lol!  She also said, I'm pretty sure Will broke some sort of "man code" hahaha...probably true again, but it doesn't seem the his pre-k clan minds....I guess we'll see what he has to say when I pick him up today.

Anyways, enough rambling. I think it's cute Will's has a girlfriend as long as it stays pre-kish it will be cute! It's precious how his face lights up when he talks about her.  I pray that as Will grows older that he will 1) still jump in my arms and hug and kiss me in public! :) and 2) that he will continue to have open communication with me!!

~until next time...

Happy New Years!

Last night we went to Rachel and Marshall's for an "around the World" New Years Party.  It was the coolest NYE party I've ever been to! We started off at a neighbors house and each hour we toasted to a New Years, first was Puerto Rico, the Greenland, then US each hour we went to a different neighbors house (I think this was the order any way...) We ended up at Rachel and Marshall's for our midnight toast.  Faith and Will had an absolute blast!  When they got a little crazy we pulled out their iPod touches to calm them down.  Will made it til about 11:30 and Faith was a trooper until about 1am.  This morning we woke up and Rachel cooked pancakes, bacon, eggs, and the best cinnamon coffee EVER!  It was the most fun I've had in a long time, hanging out with old high school buddies.

Highlights from 2011:
  • A healthy family
  • I started a new career
  • Daron got a new job and will be traveling MUCH less (YAY!)
  • family trips to: Sea World, Kemah, Galveston and Victoria
  • Daron and I went to Miami, Lake Medina, and Vegas
  • Faith's first day of 1st grade in Mrs. Smith's class
  • Will's first day of preschool
  • Huff cousins came over for a sleepover
  • Holidays with family
